I don't mind paranormal so much, but if it is a part of history of which I am totally ignorant, it will do me no favors to learn of the historical aspect from a side view. I'm thinking this would be a book better read after first learning all the fact...by watching a documentary or something.

I liked reading your take on it because I feel like you and I would have a similar reaction to this book. I do think I would enjoy the beautiful writing, but the fact that so little of the history gets covered in more artistic and less factual way might bother me. I don't know much about the Dirty War, but am eager to learn, which is something that might be hard to do with this book. Very wonderful review today. It was filled with such great insight.

Thanks for the great review. Sacre Bleu seems to get good reviews wherever I look. I will certainly add it to my reading list. I see that the audio version was reviewed on The Book Report Radio show last week. They play extracts from the audio book, so I get to decide if I'll enjoy the narration or just be put off by it. I have only ever listened to a few books, but am interested to see if I can get into this form of reading for listening while I am driving. Having now read about the beauty of the presentation, I may give the audio book a miss and go straight for the hard copy. The radio show is on bookreportradio(.)com for those interested in an audio form of reviews and book suggestions.

I was excited to see she wrote a new book, and I'm wondering how my opinion will differ from yours since I've read and liked her other two. In both her other books, she takes care to set them in a specific location but never goes into a huge amount of detail of the setting. It's background to the characters.
