I've had such issues with memory lately, strangely, so... even though I've read every single one of her books (except for the most recent), I had trouble keeping up with all the "inside jokes" that other people kept mentioning or the references they were making. But it was still super fun. Jen is so funny, but she is also very nice. She read a chapter from her upcoming humorous memoir, Jeneration X, which comes out in May. I'm super excited to read that one! Anyway, I had nothing smart to say to Jen when I met her, which is pretty common for me. And what I thought was funny after the fact was that she asked me if we'd met before (like at a previous signing, I guess) and I hesitated before answering. Like I would with anyone else who asked... It was funny in retrospect to me since I'm completely sure we haven't met before, but I stopped and thought for a second, haha. Anyway, I can't believe I haven't read her latest book yet. I think it being fiction sort of threw me off and worried me, but it sounds hilarious too!

I become almost tongue-tied whenever I meet an author at an event, lol. This sounds like it was a lot of fun!
I must have one of those faces everyone thinks they know 'cause I get asked that allot. Thanks so much for sharing your photo and your experience.
I love it that you got the chance to attend this event and speak with the author! It's always so nice when authors are friendly and amiable with their fans, and it sounds like Jen was. I used to get tongue-tied when I met authors, but now I just gush, which is a little more embarrassing, I think!
It is weird, because sometimes I am ON with the authors, like I've known them forever. Then other times, I say the stupidest things. Then I just want to crawl in a hole because they probably think I'm some weirdo. She sounds like a wonderful person and I'm sure it was a rush to meet her!
I wish Montreal had more author signings. We barely have any signing, and when we do they aren't promoted very well.
I would want to see her at a book signing ... I'm dying to hear her in person. I wonder if she is like I imagine her. How fun that you got to go!
I hosted an event with her at Borders. She is a riot!
How awesome! I love Jen and her memoirs are too funny (and too true). Awesome you got to meet her! And I never have anything brilliant to say to authors, either. I usually gush along the lines of, "Oh, I love your work!" (How original.)
I can talk to authors just fine on Facebook and even in person with the setting is right, but at a signing or a panel I become a stuttering dolt. Something about the formality of it I guess.
Oh man, I love Jen Lancaster! I'm so jealous of you!!! Her books usually make me laugh out loud (and seemingly, I always seem to be in a public space, which means I get a lot of strange looks).
