BBAW: Unexpected Treasure

Wednesday, September 15, 2010

Today's BBAW topic is about an unexpected treasure -- a book or genre that we tried due to the influence of another blogger.

There are plenty of books I've read because of the influence of other bloggers. Two series that come to mind are The Hunger Games series and The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I like young adult books but still don't read them that often. On top of that, neither of these series are in the genre I read much of (dystopian and zombie). But all the reviews swayed me and I've really enjoyed both series! These are just two examples of books I very likely would not have picked up otherwise, but I'm sure there are plenty more!

Yup, I read these because of book bloggers too! Fantabulous!

My answer included The Hunger Games too! I have a feeling that will be a very popular answer.

Bloggers are why I read The Hunger Games, too. I have The Forest of Hands and Teeth but I haven't read it yet.

I would have probably read The Hunger Games without bloggers, but I was definitely influenced by bloggers to read The Forest of Hands and Teeth. I really liked the first two books.

Haha, it sounds like a lot of us read Hunger Games b/c of blogger influence! I def. recommend Forest of Hands and Teeth for those who haven't read it!

I agree, and have to say if it wasn't for blogger enthusiasm, I probably wouldn't have read the Hunger Games trilogy either. I still have to read The Forest of Hands and Teeth as well!

Oh definitely Hunger Games for me. I've only read the first and was kind of resistant, but those bloggers certainly can put on the peer pressure, huh? :)

It's amazing how bloggers can take us out of our comfort zones!

It's so fun and nice when we can read outside of our genres and find something new to love.

It's one of the best parts of blogging, getting to read books you wouldn't normally get to!

I agree- I didn't think dystopian or zombies were my thing, but I really enjoyed these.

The Hunger Games is in my TBR pile. I'm probably one of the only people who hasn't read it yet!

I wasn't crazy about The Forest of Hands and Teeth... but I think maybe I'm just not into zombies.
