Booking Through Thursday

Thursday, January 28, 2010

Jackie says, “I love books with complicated plots and unexpected endings. What is your favourite book with a fantastic twist at the end?”

So, today’s question is in two parts.

1. Do YOU like books with complicated plots and unexpected endings?

2. What book with a surprise ending is your favorite? Or your least favorite?

Don’t forget to leave a link to your actual response (so people don’t have to go searching for it) in the comments—or if you prefer, leave your answers in the comments themselves!

I love books with surprising or unexpected endings... but only if they make sense. If they're too out there then definitely no. Complicated endings? Again, yes, but if they make sense to me then I think the author is so smart when they can make it "complicated" or involved. But confusing, no.

One of my favorite books with sort of a twist/unexpected ending (first one that popped in my mind) is Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. It wasn't a "fun" twist, but it made you think (and cry!)

On another note, hopefully next week I will get back to posting Throwback Thursdays!

I truly enjoyed Snow Flower and the Secret Fan for the wonderful story line, character development, look into history, ect., but not so much a twist. My answer: http://www.rundpinne.com/2010/01/booking-through-thursday-complicated.html

I've had the Snow Flower and Secret Fan for a few years, but have never read it. Now I definately will have to pick it up!

I keep hearing wonderful things about The Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I haven't read it yet, but the fact it has a twist in the end makes me want to push it up the TBR pile. Thanks for answering my question!

Jennifer -- I guess the "twist" isn't so much a twist like some plot twists and stuff that are out there, but the ending was sort of unexpected (for me) and made it that much more emotional. But I also loved it for the reasons you mentioned!

Laurel -- No, you didn't miss it. I will post another one at the end of this month. =)

Everyone else -- YES!!! I highly recommend it!!

Hey, Jenny, was the McLinky going up today, or the end of February?

Jenny said...

I will post it sometime today. I’m also going to figure out when to post next and make sure everything is up to date because the last task is going to be available for completion soon!

Thanks, Jenny...Yes, according to my calculations, once I link the two tasks I just completed, I'll be done except for the movie coming out!

Jenny, the McLinky was up at the original post...so I entered tasks 6 and 7 there.

I hope that was right!

Let me know if there's something different I need to do.
