The Sunday Salon

Sunday, September 13, 2009

I am in a reading slump and it's making me so sad! But I just cannot concentrate on reading for the life of me even when I have the time to do so. =( I had started reading The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I was really enjoying it but I was only 15 pages in and it was due at the library so I took it back. Then I started The Birthing House by Christopher Ransom and it's sort of different, but I'm still plugging along. Hopefully I'll have some time to do a real "sunday salon" and can read it for a bit. I have to leave around 12:15ish for work and won't be back until about 8ish. =(

Oh and on top of all that, we are planning a trip to NYC that I'm sooo excited about so ALL I've wanted to do in any free time is research stuff online about the trip (even if I already have a million times) and watch or read anything about NYC. In fact, I'm online now to book the trip and again I'm re-researching all the hotels in an effort to pick the very best one in our price range.

So there's that. BBAW is this week so that should be fun. I need to do my posts still, though I have my interview done and ready to go for Tuesday!! And I'm still doing the BIG 100 follower giveaway the week after that! It's almost all ready to go. =)

I've been in a real reading slump lately, too. :( It's a bit disturbing, because I read a lot in August, but I've been too busy with other obsessions in September to read much.

I've heard so many great things about The Help and have it in my TBR pile, bummer you couldn't finish it :(

I'd love a trip to NYC so jealous!!!

Oh, "The Help" will be well-worth your time!

But when you're planning a vacation, it's understandable that everything else goes on the back burner.

Maybe you can read while on vacation?

I hate reading slumps, but on the bright side, you're going to NYC!

I probably wouldn't get much reading done also.

Enjoy your trip.

Have a fantastic time on your trip to NYC! I have been reading a lot in September and need to find time for the BBAW week.

Amanda -- that's exactly my problem (the other obsessions) !!

Mel -- I've wanted to go NYC so bad for so long!!! I'm super excited! As for The Help, I'm considering buying it b/c I've heard great things too.

Laurel -- I figure I'll take a book or two to read but I doubt that I'll be doing much reading in NYC lol! Probably once I'm back I'll be back into reading.

Melissa -- yeah, I'm sad about not reading much but then I remind myself that too. Planning this trip is so fun!

Jennifer -- thanks! Yeah, I need to set aside time for it too. I keep meaning to get my post ready for tomorrow. Should do that now!

Sometimes, I get the same feeling too when it comes to reading, although it sounds like there's a lot coming up for you. I have never been to New York, but maybe I'll go for the first time in May for the big BEA convention. I'm not sure yet. It depends if I can afford it or not. Have fun! (I do heavy duty research too about trips, even though those trips might not happen until a couple of years later.) =)

I'm excited for your big giveaway. I've been in a reading slump lately too. I think it's really easy to fall into a slump when you have so many exciting things going on! Your trip to New York should be so fun. I've always wanted to go there - I hope we will get to hear more about the trip on here (I love living vicariously through bloggers!). I'm looking forward to your HUGE giveaway. It's awesome that you'll be hosting such an awesome event.

Linda Ellen -- I joke with my husband that I'm already planning our second trip, lol! I may have to make it during May to make it to the BEA.

Thanks Alyssa!!

Jennifer -- I'll definitely be posting about it!! I hope everyone likes the giveaway... I've made a big enough deal about it, lol!
