Fall Into Reading 2009 Challenge

Tuesday, September 22, 2009

I joined a new challenge!

The Fall Into Reading 2009 Challenge is hosted by Katrina at Callapidder Days.

To participate, here’s what you need to do:

  • Create a list of some books you’d like to read or finish this fall. This is the only real requirement for participating in the challenge.
  • Feel free to set some additional reading goals (such as reading to your kids two hours per week, getting through your pile of magazines, etc.). However, this is not required; setting additional goals is completely optional.
  • Write a blog post that includes the list of books you want to read (and any additional goals you’ve set), and get ready to post it on your blog on September 22nd.
  • Visit Callapidder Days on September 22nd to sign up for the challenge. I’ll have an official launch post up that morning, complete with an area for you to submit a link to your personal Fall Into Reading post, where it will be added to the master list of participants.
  • Read! Work on your goals throughout Fall 2009.
  • Report your results. Write another blog post in December to let everyone know how you did. (I’ll post an official wrap-up to the challenge on December 21st, where you’ll be able to share your results.)
  • Have fun! Visit other participants to see what they’re reading. Write reviews if you’re so inclined. But most of all, enjoy your fall reading!

Okay, so now for the books I want to read... I am going to use this challenge to finally read some books that I have FOREVER been meaning to read!!! I don't know how I've been able to go this long without reading some of these with as badly as I've wanted to!

  • Lying on the Couch by Irvin D. Yalom

  • The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger

  • A Thousand Splendid Suns byKhaled Hosseini

  • Free Food for Millionaires by Min Jin Lee

  • The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

The Help by Kathryn Stockett

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder

  • In the Woods by Tana French

Well, that last one is also part of my R.I.P challenge anyway (and I believe that all challenges should be able to overlap) but I am listing it here anyway to emphasize that I really want to get this read!

This looks like a pretty cool challenge! Good luck to you!

I love Snyder's Study trilogy! I just got the first book of her newest series, Storm Glass. I hope it's just as good....

Happy reading!

I loved The Book Thief and The Help! I think you tried to win The Help on my blog last week. I wish you would have won :( The girl who won - I found out later - had already read the book months ago. I wish someone who hadn't yet read it had won. Anyway, good luck with the challenge. You can check out my list too if you want...

The Book Thief was pretty good. I have Poison Study in my TBR pile but yours has a newer cover I think. I like this cover better than the one I have.

Hello, Jenny! You're gonna love A Thousand Splendid Suns and In the Woods. They're one of the most enjoyable reads I've had lately.

In the Woods made me a huge Tana French fan. I also devoured her second novel, The Likeness. It's just as good as her first novel!

Going to have skip this one since I have so much on my plate this fall! I loved Time Traveler's Wife...hope you do as well.

BTW, we are on the same blog tour for Random Magic, but you probably already knew that... Little nervous! This is my first one.

Laughing Stars -- yeah I've heard such AMAZING things about each of those books you listed!!!

Debbie's World -- i'm prett sure that's the cover I have but it's also been a while since I've seen that book... it's somewhere in my TBR pile now, lol!

Peter -- yay! And it's always great to read a wonderful book and realize that the next in the series is already out and available, lol!

michelle -- yeah i saw that. don't be nervous! it will be fine... just do the review like normal and they'll provide the material! i guess the main thing is to make sure you have it done by then, lol! I actually did a blog tour recently that i didn't get to finish the book for but there was enough material they gave me that i don't know if it mattered too much. i def. want to have this one read though! my day is late october so I still have time!
