Sunday Salon

Sunday, August 9, 2009

I'm off to the beach today (for my birthday! woot!) but thought I'd post a quick Sunday Salon before I go. The other day I posted a cover attraction post and included the new printing of The Shadow of the Wind. My hubby doesn't actually read this blog, but I guess I talked about it at the store so he got me that! Can't wait to read it! (He also upgraded my iPhone to the 3G and got me a bluetooth car thing). Anyway, you can look for the review of Shadow of the Wind sometime this month!

Last Sunday I finished Shanghai Girls and wrote my review of that wonderful book. I also read Testimony which was interesting and After which was very good (and I think we all agreed is an important read). I have an interview with the author of After, Amy Efaw, coming up soon so stay tuned!

I also listed two giveaways this week, one for a memoir, Close Encounters of the Third Grade Kind: Thoughts on Teacherhood and one for a mystery/thriller in a great series, Evil at Heart. I also joined the James Patterson Challenge for which my first read will be Swimsuit. For now I'm reading Olive Kitteridge which I wasn't so sure about in the beginning but I'm enjoying it now. I also didn't realize until after I started reading that it won the most recent pulitzer prize for fiction!

And with that, I'm off to spend the day at the beach!

Happy Birthday! (a little late)

Glad to hear After was good. I'm hoping to get to that one soon. I'm also glad to hear you are enjoying Olive Kitteridge. I got that one from LT and need to read it soon too.

Thanks, Melissa! Do you like Maeve Binchy? Olive Kitteridge soort of reminds me of her books.

Happy (belated) Birthday!

I've been dying to read Testimony, the premise sounds really interesting.
